If you are a young African hoping to study health sciences, including nursing where the programme is open to you, you have until Saturday, 31 October 2026 to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cape Town (UCT).
What it covers
- Full tuition.
- On-campus accommodation and living expenses.
- Medical aid, a laptop and the study visa.
- Annual travel to and from UCT.
- Mentoring, leadership, career and entrepreneurship training.
Support is renewed each year if you keep up your academic performance and take part in programme activities.
Two steps — don’t miss the first
- Apply for admission to a UCT undergraduate or postgraduate programme. Check that your chosen programme is open to international students.
- Submit the separate scholarship application. Only applicants with an admission offer are considered.
What selectors look for
Strong academic results, leadership potential and a clear commitment to giving back to your community. Show what you have already done, such as volunteering at a clinic or running a health awareness campaign, not just what you hope to do.
