In Malaysia, a Nigerian man was sentenced to death for killing a nurse.
The High Court sent him to the gallows to be hanged after having been found guilty.
Malaysia has sentenced Nigerian Alowonle Oluwajuwon Gilbert to death for the murder of a nurse.
A nurse at Serdang Hospital in Malaysia was found dead in 2019 after Gilbert was suspected of killing her.
As reported by The Sun Daily, he was sentenced to death by the High Court on Wednesday.
Judge Ab Karim Ab Rahman gave the judgement after finding that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubts.
According to the judge, Gilbert’s testimony that he left the victim’s house on May 8, 2019, turned out to be false.
This contrasted the evidence taken by a closed-circuit television camera at the Third Avenue Condominium in Cyberjaya on May 9, which showed the accused exiting the building.
According to the judge, “the accused’s claim that he was no longer with the victim on May 8, 2019 and had left the home by that time is just a denial.”
Ab Rahman added that the defence could not counter the traces of blood and Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) belonging to the victim found on the shirt worn by the accused on the day of the incident.
Tengku Intan Suraya Tengku Ismail prosecuted the case while Gilbert was represented by his lawyer.
The Nigerian was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code with murdering Kharina at a condominium unit in Cyberjaya.
She went missing on May 8, 2019, after the last sighting at the Serdang Hospital parking lot at 4 pm.
Kharina was found dead with slash wounds to her chest, neck and head on May 15, 2019
